NVFR/H – night visual flight authorization for helicopter
Requirements
In order to be officially admitted to the training for NVFR on helicopters, the following criteria must be met:
- Minimum age at the start of the course: 16 years
- Minimum age for license issuance: 17 years
- Positive medical fitness test class 2
Previous knowledge
- 100 h helicopter flight experience after PPL/H issuance
- 60 h as pilot in command
- 20 h flight experience in cross-country flying
The night training must be completed within 6 months after the start and can be completed on all NVFR-compatible helicopter types.
Applicants who own or have had an IR in an aircraft or TMG will be credited 5 h of the 10 h instrument training time for helicopters.
In a personal conversation, we will be happy to clarify your individual previous knowledge and inform you about the extent of creditability. The eligible elements of the NVFR training will be deducted from the price after confirmation.
Theorieausbildung
The theoretical lessons consist of 5 h and usually last one day. The following chapters are taught:
- Weather minimum for visual flight rules at night
- Airspace control at night
- Lighting of terrain, slopes, land areas and obstacles
- Position lights and avoidance of collisions
- Orientation at night
- Dangers of weather deterioration
- Function of the instrument systems
- Basics of navigation
- Minimum safe altitudes
- Dangers of icing
Practical training
- 5 h night flying, of which at least 3 h of training with an instructor, of which at least one hour of cross-country navigation and 5 patterns in solo flight. Each pattern must include a take-off and a landing.
- 10 h of simulated instrument training, of which 5 h can be flown in a simulator FSTD(H).
Upon successful completion, you will be entitled to operate flights at night.
