The Robinson R22 is known worldwide as an ideal training helicopter and offers an excellent entry point into helicopter flying. At RotorSky, we offer you thorough and professional training to obtain your type rating for the R22.

Your steps to becoming a pilot:

Training objectives

Our goal is to train you to become a competent and safe Robinson R22 pilot . Upon completion of the training, you will be able to fly the helicopter independently as pilot in command . This includes mastering normal and emergency procedures, flight planning, and understanding the helicopter's complex systems. Your safety and success are our top priority .

Requirements/Prior Knowledge

You will need a valid PPL(H) or CPL(H) license for the training.

Theoretical training

The theoretical training comprises at least 7.5 hours and provides you with comprehensive specialist knowledge about the R22.

Structure and systems: Helicopter construction, power transmission (gearbox), rotors and equipment.

Operation: Normal operation of the systems and their malfunctions, operating limits, flight performance, flight planning and monitoring.

Safety: Loading, center of gravity, emergency procedures, and additional equipment. This knowledge is crucial for the safe and efficient handling of the R22.

practical training

The practical training includes at least 5 hours of flight time and focuses on the application of what has been learned .

Acclimatization flight: Familiarizing yourself with the helicopter.

Procedure training: Intensive practice of normal and emergency procedures.

Instrument training: Fundamentals of instrument use. The course usually lasts 2 to 3 days . After successfully completing the practical exam, you are authorized to fly the Robinson R22.
